Dancing is a wonderful way to make new friends. Most dances classes are made up of 70% single people, so it's also a great way to meet someone special. The teachers almost always rotate the students, so you automatically meet new people. I have seen shy people with low self-esteem literally transformed through learning how to dance. It has a powerful way of creating confidence (whether you are leading or following.) However, it takes commitment to attending classes on a regular basis to become a true dancer--and the reward of seeing the smile on your partner's face at the end of a dance, makes it all worthwhile.
